Private Events at the Shop
Private classes and tastings are scheduled during hours when the store is normally closed, (usually Sunday evenings from 6pm-8pm). Some dates are unavailable, so please inquire early if you need a specific date.
Please note that alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises at this time – we serve flat and sparkling water. (However, we do offer private tastings at your home, where you’re welcome to serve any beverages you wish.)
We can accommodate up to 12 people in the shop: $420 for the evening.
Private Cheese 101 Class:
Our Cheese 101 class is an hour-and-a-half to two-hour lecture-style class that provides a foundational understanding of 8 distinct styles of cheese, how they’re made, and why they’re special. We taste 8 different cheeses throughout the class, and pause to discuss their flavors as a group. It’s a great introduction to cheese for people genuinely interested in the subject.
Private Charcuterie 101 Class:
Our Charcuterie 101 class is an hour-and-a-half to two-hour lecture-style class that’s designed to introduce you to a wide range of cured meats, from prosciutto to salami, and beyond. We’ll taste and talk about 8 different types of cured meat, both imported and domestic. We’ll talk about their history, how they’re made, and what makes them great. If you love to eat charcuterie, but you don’t know much about it, this is the perfect class for you.
Private tastings are less structured and more casual than our private classes. In a tasting, we give a short introduction to each of the 8 cheeses you’re tasting (what the cheese is called, who makes it, what style of cheese it is), and then we open it up for questions from the group. The Cheesemongers’ staff functions more as servers than educators in this scenario, answering any questions you have about what you’re eating, but ultimately leaving your group alone to enjoy each others’ company. This option is usually far less informational, but definitely more social than our classes.
Private tasting events can also be themed! For example, we can put together a tasting of all French cheese, all American originals, all goat cheese, all blues, etc. (additional charges may apply for certain cheeses). Just let us know what you’re interested in and we’ll figure out a selection of cheeses just for you.
